NewWater Named Semifinalist in Minnesota Cup and Cleantech Open
Minneapolis, MN - June 18, 2010 - Both the Minnesota Cup and the Cleantech Open announced their semifinalist rounds this week, and NewWater has advanced in each.
The Cleantech Open is a nationwide entrepreneurship competition whose mission is to "find, fund, and foster the big ideas that address today’s most urgent energy, environmental, and economic challenges." NewWater is one of 16 semifinalists from the North Central region which includes Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The Cleantech Open is more than a competition in that it provides mentoring and support from business specialists: things that are especially helpful to startups. Thank you to the volunteers and sponsors of the Cleantech Open.
The Minnesota Cup is "an annual, statewide competition that seeks out aspiring entrepreneurs and their breakthrough ideas." The Cup is broken down into 6 divisions: BioSciences, High Tech, Clean Tech & Renewable Energy, Social Entrepreneurship, General, and Student. NewWater is one of 9 semifinalists in the Clean Technology & Renewable Energy Division. Congratulations to all entrants in the MN Cup, we are big supporters of entrepreneurship in Minnesota.
NewWater Awarded Seed Grant From University of Minnesota January 2010
The advisory board of the Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship has chosen NewWater as a recipient of the Auth & Jackson Seed Fund. The seed fund is intended to assist University of Minnesota students who have started businesses and are participating in the Holmes Center Business Hatchery.
